Haunted San Diego Ghost Tours

Every Tour We Run, And How To Pick One

The Gaslamp walk is this site's tour, but it is one of seven. Ghost tours, a pub crawl, a paranormal hunt and two daytime history walks. Here is the honest comparison so you book the right night rather than the first one you found.

The General Idea

Dark History. True Crime. Cheesy One Liners.

Our tours are known for disturbing stories, real research, and just enough sarcastic humour to make Ash from The Evil Dead proud. No jump scares, no actors in the bushes. Authentic hauntings and eerie truths, told theatrically.

It is creepy, not terrifying. If you are not into laughs with your lore, this may not be the tour you are looking for. San Diego is often called the most haunted city in the west, and our job is to walk you into the parts of it the brochures leave out.

The Five Night Tours

Each one is a different city. Pick by how much walking you want, how much you want to go inside, and who you are bringing.

Gaslamp Walking

Gaslamp And Downtown Ghost Walk

Fast paced, in San Diego's party district, where the living can be as wild as the dead. Roughly seventy percent haunted storytelling and thirty percent true crime and dark history.

A little over 1.5 miles across more than 25 haunted and historic sites, about two hours. We go inside historic buildings at more sites than any other San Diego tour. Brothels, bars, two real serial killers and the Dead Zone.

Our least kid friendly walk. Meets under the Gaslamp Quarter Arch, 215 Fifth Ave, San Diego, CA 92101.

Old Town Walking

Old Town Ghosts And Paranormal Investigation

Whispers in the graveyard, echoes in the park, and a family friendly fright. Ghost stories, local history, and light paranormal work with real tools in your hands.

About one mile in total, including entry into Heritage Park, a walk through the graveyard and a pass by the Whaley House. No building entry on this one. What happens outside is haunting enough.

Our most kid friendly tour. Still ghost stories, so parental discretion applies.

Ghost Bus

The Haunted Ghost Bus Tour

Our flagship. Five haunted locations, four of which you enter on most nights. Roughly eighty five percent ghost storytelling and fifteen percent true crime.

Travel by bus through Old Town, Sherman Heights and the Gaslamp Quarter, walking about four city blocks in total. You get off at every stop. This is not a drive by.

Generally fine for older kids. The stories involve death, tragedy and the unexplained, so use your judgement.

Paranormal Event

Old Town Paranormal Investigation

For those who want to stop watching and start hunting. Roughly ninety minutes of outdoor investigation in Heritage Park and the graveyard beside it.

About ten percent tour and ninety percent ghost hunting. This is not storytelling, it is seeking. We pay for after hours access to Heritage Park, which is where the activity tends to be, and we follow the energy rather than a fixed script.

Nothing here is faked. Results vary and spirits do not perform on command.

Pub Crawl

Ghosts And Goblets Haunted Pub Crawl

Three haunted bars in the Gaslamp Quarter, about twenty minutes at each. Themed craft cocktails drawn from San Diego's haunted past, with names like The Tanglefoot and The Madame.

An exclusive route through the Gaslamp's haunted watering holes, hosted theatrically, never touristy. Extra drinks available at each stop.

Guests 21 and over. This one is not for kids.

Daytime History Tours

Two Walks With The Ghosts Left Out

Costumed historians, real archives, and no paranormal content at all. These run in daylight and are built for people who came for the city, not the spirits.

Gaslamp History

Gaslamp And Downtown History Tour

Where the Wild West met the wicked. Roughly two miles through more than 30 historic and legendary sites, about two hours. Ninety five percent history with only a flicker of the paranormal.

Stops include Wyatt Earp's gambling den and former residence, a haunted hotel that once doubled as a hospital, San Diego's long forgotten downtown zoo, a secret German spy hideout, the Stingaree red light district, and the mystery of the Glass Marble Exchange.

Downtown is a mature subject, so parents should use discretion with younger guests.

Old Town History

Old Town History Tour

A walk through the birthplace of California, led by a costumed historian. Heroes, pioneers, rebels and the culture that shaped the early state.

About 1.5 miles across Old Town's iconic and tucked away sites, roughly two hours. Ninety five percent history with a whisper of the ghostly. Includes Heritage Park access and interactive storytelling.

Genuinely kid friendly, and good for curious kids and budding historians.

Frequently Dreaded Questions

Which One Should You Book?

The four questions we get asked most, answered the way we would answer them on the phone.

Which tour is best for first timers?

The Haunted Ghost Bus Tour. It is our most immersive and theatrical night, it visits five locations and enters four on most nights, and it gives you a piece of each major part of San Diego. It also suits anyone who wants a break from walking.

Which tour is best for families with kids?

The Old Town Walking Tour with paranormal investigation. Kids and adults both like handling the tools and being part of the hunt. The Ghost Bus works too, though the content is more mature. The Gaslamp walk is the most mature of all, with brothel history and a party district around you. Ghosts and Goblets is the one that genuinely is not for kids.

Honestly, none of them are what we would call scary. They are spooky, and nothing maleficent has ever happened on one. Call 619.255.6170 if you want us to help you choose.

Which tour goes inside haunted locations?

The Ghost Bus enters up to four haunted sites on most nights. The Gaslamp walk enters at least one real haunted interior. Ghosts and Goblets enters three bars that are considered haunted. Old Town Walking and the Paranormal Event stay outdoors, though we pay for access to a haunted park where we have recorded a great deal of activity.

Are your stories true, and which tour is the most intense?

Every story we tell is built on documented history, real events and real locations. We do not fabricate and we do not use jump scares. Bring a sense of humour, because true stories are still told theatrically here.

The Gaslamp and downtown walk is the fastest moving and most mature. Brothel lore, true crime and downtown energy. Spooky, not scary. Things do happen on our tours, on all of them, but you have to get lucky.
